Joining our school

Choosing the right Primary School for your child is one of the most important decisions that you as a parent will ever make. Because not every school is suitable for every child, it is very important to come & have a look around to really get a feel for if they will fit.

At Parson Cross CE Primary, we prefer to give the personal touch and would love to show you around our lovely school!

Please give us a call so that we can make you and your child welcome!

Why should you choose us for your child?

We could be the right choice for you if you want a school where:

  • Children are happy, loved & well cared for.
  • There is a natural family feel, where all the children and staff know each other well.
  • Pupils are supported and encouraged to find their own ‘spark of genius.
  • Behaviour is exemplary; children care for each other and focus on learning.
  • We value more than just academic achievement. Although our priority is to ensure all our children succeed academically, we offer much wider enrichment opportunities through music, performance, sport, visits, visitors, residentials and workshops.

Applying for a Place in Reception:

The Sheffield City Council website has a dedicated section giving information for parents on applying for a place at a primary school – please click to open it.

To apply for a place at Parson Cross Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School, you must fill in the form on the Sheffield City Council website using the link below:

How to apply for primary school

If you are applying based on church attendance, you should also ask your Minister to complete a Sheffield Diocese Supplemental Information Form (please note that this form is not required if you do not attend church).

Unlike a community school where the City Council Admissions Department decides on admissions, Parson Cross CE Primary is a Voluntary Aided Church of England school. Therefore, the responsibility lies with the school Governing Body to rank the applications according to our admissions criteria.

This information can be found in the school’s Admission Policy (including the ranking criteria).

In-Year Admissions

At Parson Cross CE Primary, we participate in the Local Authority’s Co-ordinated Admission Scheme for in-year admissions. If a parent of a child on our roll wishes to apply for a transfer to another school, then they must obtain a transfer form from the school for completion of Section 2. The application must then be sent to the Local Authority, which will process the application on the parent’s behalf.

The Local Authority will confirm the outcome of the application in writing within 15 school days. If the application is refused, the Local Authority will advise on the statutory appeal procedure. Details of the Co-ordinated Admission Scheme and how in-year applications are managed can be seen at
