Sports Premium

At Parson Cross CE Primary School, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of all our children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children as well as increasing their fitness levels.

Our Primary School Sports Funding will enable us to continue and extend our provision through employing additional sports professionals, entering into more competitive sports competitions, enhancing our equipment and provision, and training our staff to deliver in-house quality PE sessions.

What is the Sports Premium?

The government is providing funding for schools. The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.  Here at Parson Cross CE Primary School we receive around £18,000 a year. The money can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.

Purpose of the funding

Schools have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they have the freedom to choose how they do this. Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer. This means that we should use the premium to:

  • develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers
  • make improvements now that will benefit pupils joining the school in future years
