What do Ofsted say about our school?

Parson Cross CE Primary School is a good school, we take great pride in our achievements and the positive impact we have on the lives of our pupils.

A Culture of Belonging and High Expectations

Our school is a happy and welcoming community, where every child is known and valued. We understand that children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and inspired. That's why we work tirelessly to build strong relationships between our pupils, families, and staff, fostering a genuine sense of belonging.

Our vision and values are at the heart of everything we do. We believe in the potential of every child, and we have high expectations for all. Our dedicated team of educators is ambitious for our pupils, striving to "find the spark of genius" within each and every one of them. Through a carefully tailored curriculum and a wealth of enriching experiences, we prepare our children for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Serving the Wider Community

We are deeply rooted in the local community, and our knowledge of the area informs our planning and curriculum. Our pupils make a positive contribution to the community, such as raising funds to host an annual Christmas lunch for elderly residents. This not only reinforces our Christian values of empathy, forgiveness, and compassion but also helps our children develop a strong sense of social responsibility.

A Commitment to Safeguarding and Wellbeing

At Parson Cross, the safety and wellbeing of our pupils are of the utmost importance. We have a strong culture of safeguarding, and our staff are vigilant in identifying and addressing any concerns. Pupils consistently report feeling safe and supported, and our focus on building positive relationships ensures that any incidents of bullying are dealt with quickly and effectively.

A Reflection of Our Ethos

Our most recent Ofsted inspection is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire school community. The report highlights the many strengths of our school, including our positive and inclusive ethos, our high expectations for all, and our commitment to preparing our pupils for the future.

We are incredibly proud of our school and the progress we have made. As we continue to build on our successes, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide an exceptional educational experience for every child who walks through our doors.

Church School Inspection

As a church school we are also subject to Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS). Our most recent inspection March 2022 reported that..

‘Parson Cross is a school where the vision to share God’s love and to find the ‘spark of genius’ in everyone is made real every day.

The vision has a positive impact on pupils. The strapline ‘Believe, Achieve, Celebrate’ is understood and lived out. Pupils are encouraged to believe in God and themselves. As one pupil put it ‘if we do that we might believe in God, but we will believe in ourselves’. Pupils’ hopes and aspirations are raised through their ‘celebration log’.

Links with the parish church are strong. The vicar and curate are often in school. They build strong relationships with pupils and families. Across the community, church and school are seen as one.’
